Ms. Nicks and her family are long-time supporters of the Arizona Heart Institute Foundation and its many programs dedicated to the eradication of heart disease, which is the number one killer of all Americans. The Nicks family has a very personal connection to the cause because heart disease has affected them for many years. Ms. Nicks' paternal grandmother and uncle died from the disease. Her father, Jess Nicks, has suffered from heart disease since 1974 and has had three open-heart surgeries. Her mother, Barbara, also has had an open-heart surgery.

The Stevie Nicks & Friends Benefit Concert will support the foundation's capital campaign to build a research and education center, including a state-of-the art laboratory dedicated to futuristic medical research for cardiovascular disease, on the campus of the Arizona Heart Hospital in Phoenix. The caliber of this facility will allow the Arizona Heart Institute to attract the world's top researchers and breakthrough clinical trials, thus expanding the foundation's research programs to their most advanced level yet. Additionally, this unique building will be the base for continuing medical education and training programs and an education center for the public.

For the past 30 years the research and education programs supported by Arizona Heart Institute Foundation have touched many people in Arizona, the nation and the world -- from the elementary school children who learn from the Heart Healthy Lessons for Children classroom program to the thousands of patients whose lives have been saved by non-invasive surgical techniques that were developed by foundation researchers.
