Free Presentation at The Arizona Heart Institute
Aneurysms and Endoluminal Graft
Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death among Americans. The incidence of reported ruptured aneurysm is about 10 in every 100,000 persons per year (about 27,000 patients per year in the US), most commonly diagnosed in people who are between 50 and 60 years old. An Aneurysm is a ballooning in the wall of an artery, aneurysms can form in arteries throughout the body, but the most common are abdominal aortic aneurysms and thoracic aneurysms, both known as “silent killers” because they have no symptoms. Fortunately there are minimally invasive procedures at the Arizona Heart Institute that can repair these aneurysms; one called an Endoluminal Graft (ELG). These ELG’s are made of a combination of synthetic material and metal stents, which is used to block off the aneurysm, and inserted nonsurgically with a catheter through an artery in the groin.
On Thursday, September 18, 2008, you can attend a FREE presentation on Aneurysms and Endoluminal Grafts, sponsored by the Arizona Heart Institute (AHI) and the Arizona Heart Hospital.
