William J.  Rappoport, MD, FACC

Cardiologist

Dr. William J. Rappoport joined the Arizona Heart Institute in November 2003. He earned a stellar reputation as both a non-invasive and interventional cardiologist nearly 40 years in private practice in both Denver, Colorado, and Phoenix, Arizona.

Dr. Rappoport received his undergraduate degree at John Hopkins University and his medical degree from the University Of Maryland School Of Medicine. His postgraduate training included internship and medical residences at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore and the University of Colorado Medical Center.

During his fellowship in Cardiology, also at the University of Colorado Medical Center, Dr. Rappoport trained with Dr. S. Gilbert Blount, Jr., internationally renowned for his expertise in Rheumatic and Congenital Heart Disease. Dr. Blount himself had spent many years training at Johns Hopkins Hospital with Dr. Helen Taussig who had collaborated with Dr. Alfred Blalock in the famous Blalock-Taussig operation for “blue babies”.

Following completion of his training and 2 years of service in the military, Dr. Rappoport was in private practice in Denver, where he was responsible for residency training in Cardiology and co-director of the CCU and Cardiovascular Lab at Phoenix Baptist Hospital for nearly 30 years. He was also responsible for Cardiology training of the Family Practice residents.

A fellow of the American College of Cardiology and American College of Chest Physicians, Dr. Rappoport is also a member of the American and Arizona Heart Associations, the Arizona Medical Association, and the Maricopa Medical Society. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Diseases.
