Heart disease is the number one cause of death in men and women, but that is where the similarity ends. The disease that claims nearly 500,000 women’s lives each year (more than all forms of cancer combined) does not appear or behave the same in women as it does in men, nor do women respond to treatment in the same manner as male patients.
